How to set up and modify the setup mode of the Fonera via Fon Utility app

The Fon Utility App, available for iOS and Android devices, allows you to set up your Fonera (model FON2412 only) and modify its setup mode.

How to configure your Fon router

You will first need to connect to the Fon router’s WiFi Signal. The signal name (MyPlace_XXXXXX) and password (WPA key) are printed under your Fon router.

Note: if this information is missing, just open the list of available WiFi networks in range of your device, and look for the signal called "MyPlace_XXXXXX". This is the one!

Open the app and choose the Fon router you want to configure (Fonera only).

The app will look for your Fon router. Once it is found, it will prompt you to start configuring it. Tap on Configure Device.

A screen will then display a list of WiFi networks around you, and the option "Want to connect via cable?".

Note: Configuring your Fonera in WiFi mode will enable you to extend your home WiFi coverage, as you will be able to place it between your main WiFi router and the WiFi dead zone. More tips to boost your WiFi coverage here.

If you choose to configure your Fonera in WiFi mode, select the WiFi network you wish the Fonera to connect to, and introduce its password (password of the WiFi signal).

If you prefer to connect your Fonera in Cable mode, just tap "Want to connect through cable?" and connect the Ethernet cable from the Internet port of the Fonera to your home router.

You’re almost done! Now just review the information on the last screen and tap Finish. The Fon router will take less than a minute to configure. Once the Fon router light stops blinking and gets solid green you are ready to surf.

You're done!

Note: if this information is missing, just open the list of available WiFi networks in range of your device, and look for the signal called "MyPlace_XXXXXX". This is the one!
